The sensors are coming to a network near you!

About 20 years ago John Vacca and I discussed how networking (i.e Internet) would eventually connect more devices around the world than it would connect PCs and people. That has rapidly become true as more and more machines were attached to the global networks. Now we are moving to the next step of connecting smaller and smaller sensing devices into networks. These sensors can be deployed for security, control, observation, spying, and even entertainment. This book is a culmination of decades of observation, experimentation, development, and deployment of sensors via networks. John has brought together the leaders in the field to contribute their expertise and experience to this book. I highly recommend it, unless of course you do not want to know what the future holds.

A peek into the future.

John Vacca has provided an exceptionally well organized and comprehensive single source of material for use by academia, system administrators, software developers, and IT consultants that are involved with the design,development, implementation and protection of hardware, software and data structures that are emerging within wireless sensor network infrastructures. The book describes how the implementation of these wireless sensor networks, through the use of smart phones and other data collection devices, are showing up in automobiles, buildings, cities, etc. It provides insight into the wireless environments in which we as a society will have to live and work, both now and in the future. Read it and you will be glad you did!

This is a terrific addition to be sitting at hands reach for any sensor or wireless communication engineer. The book's authors have tapped into a who's who of international experts covering the wide spectrum from device, to data security, to network architectures. The content includes advance analysis and modeling formulation for those that like the theory, but the book balances well with a rich sampling of very practical discussions of current techniques and implementations. Highly recommended for technologists in the wireless sensor and networking field. Written with today's state-of-the art freshness for a blossoming technology.
