Como siempre haciendo grandes aportes de calidad javier. hace una hora compre el libro y ya termine de leer las experiencia y me siento identificado con varias de ellas. En mi pequeno aporte haber estudiado tradercoah es una de las mejores decisiones que he tomado, A mi me ha pasado como lo dice conie achury que la familia y amigos se llegan a mofar un poco por estar estudiando o dedicandote a esto, pero la realidad es que no me afecta porque busco generar diferentes fuentes de ingresos para obtener mir libertad financiera a comparacion de ellos yo y nosotros intendamos hacer cosas diferentes para obtener resultados diferentes. Stephen Greenblatt (Ph.D. Yale) is Cogan University Professor of the Humanities at Harvard University. Also General Editor of The Norton Anthology of English Literature, he is the author of eleven books, including The Swerve: How the World Became Modern (winner of the 2011 National Book Award and the 2012 Pulitzer Prize); Shakespeare's Freedom; Will in the World: How Shakespeare Became Shakespeare; Hamlet in Purgatory; Marvelous Possessions: The Wonder of the New World; Learning to Curse: Essays in Early Modern Culture; and Renaissance Self-Fashioning: From More to Shakespeare. He has edited seven collections of criticism, including Cultural Mobility: A Manifesto, and is a founding coeditor of the journal Representations. His honors include the MLA’s James Russell Lowell Prize, for both Shakespearean Negotiations: The Circulation of Social Energy in Renaissance England and The Swerve, the Sapegno Prize, the Distinguished Humanist Award from the Mellon Foundation, the Wilbur Cross Medal from the Yale University Graduate School, the William Shakespeare Award for Classical Theatre, the Erasmus Institute Prize, two Guggenheim Fellowships, and the Distinguished Teaching Award from the University of California, Berkeley. Alfred David (Ph.D. Harvard) is Professor of English Emeritus at Indiana University. Barbara K. Lewalski (Ph.D. Chicago) is William R. Kenan Professor of English and of History and Literature at Harvard University. She is the recipient of the MLA’s James Russell Lowell Prize for Protestant Poetics and the Seventeenth-Century Religious Lyric and the Explicator Prize for Donne’s Anniversaries and the Poetry of Praise. Her other books include Paradise Lost and the Rhetoric of Literary Forms, Writing Women in Jacobean England, Milton: A Critical Biography, and The Polemics and Poems of Rachel Speght (editor). Lewalski is the recipient of Guggenheim and NEH Senior fellowships and is a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and Honored Scholar of the Milton Society.

Lawrence Lipking (Ph.D. Cornell) is Professor of English and Chester D. Tripp Professor of Humanities at Northwestern University. He received the Phi Beta Kappa Christian Gauss Prize for The Life of the Poet. He is also the author of The Ordering of the Arts in Eighteenth-Century England; Abandoned Women and Poetic Tradition; and Samuel Johnson: The Life of an Author and editor of High Romantic Argument. Lipking is the recipient of Guggenheim, ACLS, Newberry Library, Wilson International Center for Scholars, and NEH Senior fellowships and is a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.

George M. Logan�(Ph.D. Harvard) is a Senior Fellow of Massey College in the University of Toronto and the James Cappon Professor of English Emeritus at Queen’s University, Canada, where he was head of the English Department for nine years and an award-winning teacher. He is the author of The Meaning of More’s Utopia and principal editor of the Cambridge edition of Utopia (Latin and English), editor of the Norton Critical Edition of Utopia (3rd edition), More’s History of King Richard the Third, and The Cambridge Companion to Thomas More, and coeditor, with Gordon Teskey, of Unfolded Tales: Essays on Renaissance Romance; he has also written a history of the Indiana University School of Music.

Deidre Shauna Lynch is Chancellor Jackman Professor and Associate Professor of English at the University of Toronto. She is the author of The Economy of Character, which was awarded the MLA’s Prize for a First Book, and editor of Janeites: Austen’s Disciples and Devotees and, with William B. Warner, Cultural Institutions of the Novel. She is also an editor of The Norton Anthology of English Literature. She is the recipient of fellowships from the National Humanities Center and the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation, of the State University of New York Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching, and of the Northeast Association of Graduate Schools’ Graduate Faculty Teaching Award.

Katharine Eisaman Maus (Ph.D. Johns Hopkins) is James Branch Cabell Professor of English at the University of Virginia. She is the author of Being and Having in Shakespeare; Inwardness and Theater in the English Renaissance; and Ben Jonson and the Roman Frame of Mind; editor of a volume of Renaissance tragedies; and coeditor of English Renaissance Drama: A Norton Anthology, The Norton Anthology of English Literature, and a collection of criticism on seventeenth-century English poetry. James Noggle�(Ph.D. UC Berkeley) is Professor of English at Wellesley College. He is author of The Skeptical Sublime: Aesthetic Ideology in Pope and the Tory Satirists; his second book, The Temporality of Taste in Eighteenth-Century British Writing, is forthcoming from Oxford. He is the recipient of fellowships from the American Council of Learned Societies and the American Philosophical Society.

Jahan Ramazani�(Ph.D. Yale and M.Phil. Oxford) is Edgar F. Shannon Professor of English at the University of Virginia, previously the Mayo NEH Distinguished Teaching Professor. He is the author of Transnational Poetics, which won the Harry Levin Prize of the American Comparative Literature Association, and of Poetry of Mourning: The Modern Elegy from Hardy to Heaney, which was a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award. He is also the author of The Hybrid Muse: Postcolonial Poetry in English and Yeats and the Poetry of Death: Elegy, Self-Elegy, and the Sublime. He is coeditor of The Norton Anthology of Modern and Contemporary Poetry. Ramazani is the recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship, a National Endowment for the Humanities Fellowship, a Rhodes Scholarship, and the William Riley Parker Prize of the Modern Language Association.

Catherine Robson�(Ph.D. UC Berkeley) is Associate Professor of English at New York University and a faculty member of the Dickens Project. She is the author of Men in Wonderland: The Lost Girlhood of the Victorian Gentleman and Heart Beats: Everyday Life and the Memorized Poem (forthcoming), and has received fellowships from the NEH, the Guggenheim Foundation, the University of California, and the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin.

James Simpson (Ph.D. Cambridge) is Douglas P. and Katherine B. Loker Professor of English at Harvard University and former Chair of Medieval and Renaissance English at the University of Cambridge. An Honorary Fellow of the Australian Academy of the Humanities, he is the author of Piers Plowman: An Introduction to the B-Text (1990); Sciences and the Self in Medieval Poetry (1995); Reform and Cultural Revolution, 1350–1547; Volume 2 of The Oxford English Literary History (2002); Burning to Read: English Fundamentalism and Its Reformation Opponents (2007); and Under the Hammer: Iconoclasm in the Anglo-American Tradition (2010).

Jon Stallworthy (M.A. and B.Litt. Oxford) is Senior Research Fellow at Wolfson College of Oxford University, where he is an Emeritus Professor of English Literature. He is also former John Wendell Anderson Professor at Cornell, where he taught after a career at Oxford University Press. His biography of Wilfred Owen won the Duff Cooper Memorial Prize, the W. H. Smith Literary Award, and the E. M. Forster Award of the American Academy of Arts and Letters. His biography of Louis MacNeice won the Southern Arts Literary Prize. He is also the author of Rounding the Horn: Collected Poems and Singing School: The Making of a Poet, and editor of the definitive edition of Wilfred Owen’s poetry, The Complete Poems and Fragments; The Penguin Book of Love Poetry; The Oxford Book of War Poetry; and coeditor of The Norton Anthology of Poetry. Stallworthy has received a Guggenheim Fellowship and is a Fellow of the British Academy and the Royal Society of Literature.

Jack Stillinger (Ph.D. Harvard) is Center for Advanced Study Professor of English Emeritus at the University of Illinois. He is the author of The Hoodwinking of Madeline and Other Essays on Keats’s Poems, The Texts of Keats’s Poems, the standard edition of The Poems of John Keats; Multiple Authorship and the Myth of Solitary Genius; Coleridge and Textual Instability; and Reading "The Eve of St. Agnes." He is the recipient of Guggenheim and Woodrow Wilson fellowships and is a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.

M. H. Abrams (1912―2015) was Class of 1916 Professor of English, Emeritus at Cornell University. He received the Phi Beta Kappa Christian Gauss Prize for The Mirror and the Lamp and the MLA's James Russell Lowell Prize for Natural Supernaturalism. He is also the author of The Milk of Paradise, A Glossary of Literary Terms, The Correspondent Breeze, and Doing Things with Texts. By far the best available history of native peoples adapting to and incorporating horses into their cultures.

This is the best available book on this subject. Yes, it is an academic study (each chapter is followed by a notes section), but I find the writing to be quite good and the whole book well-written and an extremely informative read. The book has many illustrations, some of them rare period photos, and some of the black and white photos of representative landscapes were a bit blurry and not so useful. There's a nice section of color plates, as well. The author's overall approach is to blend history (drawn partly from contemporary accounts, a particularly rich source for the Southern Cone), ethnography and archaeology into his narrative.

I would quibble a little with the title. The book is only nominally "worldwide" because two "continent" sections are brief. He looks at Australia, South Africa and New Zealand rather quickly, with the main portion of the book on North and South America. The South African section has a too cursory account of the fascinating story of how some groups became mounted and in effect formed a new people (much as happened in areas of the Americas). Perhaps that will be another book.

In the long portion about North America, he discusses particular areas, quite varied in responses to horses and in ecosystem (he gets a bit into how horses altered these, not enough covered for my taste). These include the Southern plains, the Great Basin, the Pacific Northwest and California. Not all readers will agree, but I found the section on the Comanches the best, and found his comparison between the Metis (Canadian) and the Comancheros (New Mexican) to be especially interesting.

In the equally long portion about South America, he covers in most detail Guajira (a peninsula in Venezuela with an especially formidable mounted people called the Wayuu, who remained independent until nearly 1900. He also covers in great detail the Chaco region (centering on what is now Paraguay) and the Pampas area. The detail is excellent and the accounts of the various people are the best I have read (I don't read Spanish, so there are probably superb accounts I am unaware of).

He covers in all several dozen peoples. One aspect is that the encounter with horses altered old systems in many ways and in effect produced new ethnicities from the old (much the same happened elsewhere; see the work of Richard White on the Great Lakes region of the US, fore example).

The book has an interesting list of tribal names as they were known to English and Spanish speakers, and the words they use to identify themselves.

Scintilating topic, poor book

This book has a great topic and it should have been tremendous. Instead it is pedantic and poorly written. The author would have been a great research assistant but the writing should have been left to someone with at least a little skill as an author and storyteller. It is written by one of those British academics who think commentaries on squabbles among academics are so so fascinating and quaint that they should receive more focus than the many stories of horse cultures, most of which are replaced with abstract categories and lists of poorly defined terms. I have no personal stake in any of this. Just a disappointed reader. Considering that it is an unusually expensive ebook it is best avoided.

Faisal Devji's text is an original, timely, and extremely impressive contribution. Devji allows us to situate Islamic militancy within the discursive proximity and exchange that globalization enables. His focus is the moral economy of militant Islam's struggle against the West, and while this struggle contains the potential for a new global politics, Devji shows that Islamic militancy suffers from de-politicization as a consequence of its global diffusion and lack of political instrumentality and institutional realization. The result adds an 'existential dimension' to militant ideas and practices.

Al-Qaeda Ghandi Humanitarian Globalization

The author stated that: "My object in this book is to argue that a global society has come into being, but possesses as yet no political institutions proper to its name, and that new forms of militancy, like that of Al-Qaeda, achieve meaning in this institutional vacuum, while representing in their own way the search for a global politics" (p.8). While the author seems to be implying that Al-Qaeda is some type of typical NGO (non-governmental organization) seeking world peace by helping others to achieve global humanity, the author is no Pollyanna regarding the Islamo fascists: he is clearly aware that Al-Qaeda and its associates are seeking their One World view of humanistic justice through violence - should their `peaceful' overtures inviting infidels to embrace Islam as dhimmi fail. The author tries to convince the reader that Al-Qaeda views itself as being on a `humanitarian-like mission' in appealing to atheists to embrace the Muslim Allah. The author contends that Al-Qaeda tries to show its concern for `humanism' by warning the masses that atheistic capitalistic countries are harming the world environment through Global Warming (which somehow can be avoided by people embracing Islam). To further tie-in Al-Qaeda as having a `humanistic' perspective, the author drags in India's Mahatma Ghandi. While most people are aware of Ghandi's non-violent political protests against some British injustice, the author discusses Ghandi's militant-side: whereby Ghandi at times condoned violence against the British `occupiers.' This completes the author's circle of world `humanism': Al-Qaeda is like Ghandi: both urge peaceful resolution to disputes, but should peaceful enticements fail, then violence is permissible against those who rebuff their peaceful overtures. Not that the author is trying to equate Al-Qaeda with Ghandi, just that they have similar `humanistic' perspectives (actions) in achieving their version of a peaceful globalized ummah community. The author all too-frequently re-writes his sentences in trying to present his themes in new perspectives, but an effort which just unnecessarily lengthens his book. (Okay, I think the author is a little wordy.) I learned more about Ghandi than I did about Al-Qaeda. This book isn't going to contribute to a U.S. soldier stationed somewhere in the Middle East in trying to figure out how to defeat or `engage' Al-Qaeda, it's for academia musing. I'm sure the author is very insightful about this topic, it's just not one of the first 25 books that I would recommend in reading to learn something really meaningful about Al-Qaeda.

This is a very good way of learning about Windows 8.1 and Windows 10. It has great screenshots which make it easy to follow. And it has an irreverent style that makes it enjoyable as well as useful. I challenge you not to smile as you read.

Great job Vonnie! I appreciate the chronological discussion of the "real" Windows evolution. The shells that ran on DOS were nothing more than a gussied up "AutoMenu", remember that?

Your explanation of the technological iterations of the various Windows flavors provides a good foundation for a teaching tool. I am a serious proponent of the premise that unless you know where you've been you don't know where you been or are now!

Your detailed discussion of Win 8.1 functions and generous addition of "Tips & Tricks" helps a lot in not having to chase them down in the "heat of battle. Thanks again and "buena fortuna."

Adds Much Needed Intelligence to the Windows 8.1 Experience

This book is an excellent resource for those who are mystified by certain aspects of Windows 8.1 and those who need a handy reference guide. The author uses a clear, conversational writing style to explain the inner workings and specific steps for navigating 8.1 successfully. I also really appreciated that the book addresses security threats, features, and best practices at certain points -- definitely important for any Windows user. Highly recommend this book; would also make a nice Christmas gift!
